Speaker(s): Alistair Hudson (Whitworth Art Gallery)
In his 1957 lecture Creative Act Marcel Duchamp introduces the idea of the Art Coefficient, described as the difference between the artist's intention and realization which is created. In developing Arte Util as a counter to colonial systems, this idea has be revisited as a key to unlocking arts entrapment by its own autonomy and opens the door to new paradigm for conceptualising art beyond the modernity of the last two centuries.
