Mentoring

Mentoring at York is an informal and supportive relationship where a more experienced member of staff assists a colleague to become more competent in their role.

The University has three mentoring schemes together with departmental guidance for new lecturers (grade 7 undertaking teaching and research):

• For established Academic, Research (including post-docs), Teaching and Scholarship staff
• For support staff
• For postgraduate research students

Postgraduate Research Student (PGRs) Mentoring Scheme

The PGR mentoring programme was launched in 2020 in recognition of the unique position and contribution that postgraduate research students (PGRs) make to the research culture at York. Find out more information on the scheme and how to apply on the PGR mentoring page.
