CONIFAS aims to develop an accessible and engaging nature-based intervention for children and young people with ADHD. We will do this through co-production with families with lived experience of ADHD and professionals who work in this area or in outdoor activities/recreation. Engaging with nature has been shown to have a positive impact on the things children and young people with ADHD may struggle with. Although policies are increasingly moving towards prescribing ‘green treatment’ (such as outdoor exercise and learning), these are not yet designed for children and young people with ADHD. So, we are running this co-production study to create an intervention using nature that will reduce ADHD symptomatology in a way that is acceptable and accessible to a wide range of families with lived experience of ADHD.
