CANDO is an observational study. This means that people who agreed to take part in the study were not given any treatment other than the treatment that they already received. They did however have a conversation with an expert psychiatrist in the field, and had some tests, of which they and their treatment providers might benefit. The information that the patients will provide us will help us understand more about conversion disorder/FND.
This is also a feasibility study, which is essentially a practice-run before doing a larger-scale study. We therefore want to know whether people taking part are able to fully complete the study and whether they find what they are asked to do acceptable. This information can then help us make changes before we do a larger study. We need to ensure that research meets the needs of people taking part and we need their help to do this.
