As members of the Midlands Yorkshire and East of England Practice Learning Group (MYEPLG), which consists of 32 Approved Educational Institutions and our many NHS, Private, Independent and Voluntary practice partners, we are proud to have been part of the largest collaboration, responding the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Education Standards (2018).
In addition to the development of the Midlands, Yorkshire and East Practice Assessment Document (MYEPAD), to be used by all nursing students undertaking Future Nurse Curricula, the group has produced resources to support the transition of existing mentors under SLAiP (NMC 2008) to the New Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment in Practice (SSSA) (NMC 2018).
We have worked closely in collaboration with local Practice Partners and Universities to provide staff with a consistent approach to these roles.
For more information on the MYNEE PLG or to access a range of useful resources for practice support roles, please access the MYENEE webpages.
The Trainee Nursing Associate programme is an apprenticeship. Learners are working towards achieving the Nursing & Midwifery Council standards for proficiency alongside the Apprenticeship Standards for a Nursing Associate. Trainee's on the Nursing Associate Programme have had their learning outcomes for practice mapped between the NMC proficiencies and the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviors (KSB’s) within the Apprenticeship Standards. These are reflected in the learning outcomes of the NAPAD. You need to be aware when supporting TNA's in practice that they are apprentice learners and not students.
TNA’s require the support of Practice Assessors and Practice Supervisors and staff undertake the same preparation for the nursing students and Trainee Nursing Associates. Once you have completed the Practice Assessor or Practice Supervisor Preparation below, you will be able to support both Student nurses and TNA learners.
The My placement NAPAD (PDF , 562kb) guide has been put together to support you with understanding the requirements of your NAPAD and how to complete your summative assessments for practice. The My Placement, NAPAD document is intended to be used electronically, it has useful links and resources and is split into different sections that you can click on that relate to the different sections within your NAPAD. It contains a wealth of information that can help you, your practice assessor and supervisors to complete your NAPAD.
We hope that you find this resource helpful and that it complements the technical guides already available to you around using PebblePad (the NAPAD platform).
