Biography

Lois Armour is a Qualitative Research Assistant based in the Department of Health Sciences at the University of York. Lois is involved in several projects looking at improving the mental and physical health of adults, parents and families.

Lois previously worked on a two year Mental Health Navigators Evaluation in conjunction with colleagues at the University of York, Newcastle University and the University of Manchester. The project was funded by NIHR ARC National Priority Consortium in Health and Care Inequalities where she supported the qualitative implementation and process evaluation. This included preparing for ethical approval, scheduling and conducting interviews with professionals and service users, analysing data, scoping review screening and coordinating PPI work.

Lois has a specific interest in addressing health inequalities within health and social care research. This includes improving mental health outcomes, living with long-term conditions and delivering quality care.

Prior to her work in research, Lois worked in the North East of Scotland in the Homeless Department for Aberdeen City Council and within HR for NHS Grampian before deciding to pursue a career in research. Lois’ MSc Dissertation looked at the barriers and facilitators to employment for physically disabled people. She was awarded the Head of Aberdeen Business School and the CIPD Top Student Award.
