Profile

Biography

Hannah joined the York Trials Unit as a Research Fellow (Trial Coordinator) in November 2021. Prior to this, Hannah worked at the Centre for Mathematical Cognition at Loughborough University, and in the Clinical Psychology department of Royal Holloway University, examining cognitive impairment and mood disorders in people with Multiple Sclerosis.

Presently, Hannah is working on trauma (DIDACT) and elective (RAPSODI-UK) orthopaedic surgical trials.

Research

Overview

Hannah’s research interests include mental health, cognitive functioning, autism, and face recognition.

Projects

  • DIDACT - Multi-centre randomised controlled trial to assess the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of surgery compared with sling immobilisation in the management of adults with radiological diagnosis of a displaced fracture of the distal clavicle that does not involve the acromioclavicular joint.
  • RAPSODI - An RCT assessing whether reverse total shoulder replacement is superior to an anatomical total shoulder replacement for the treatment of painful osteoarthritis of the shoulder joint in patients over 60 years old.

Previous Projects

  • SWHSI 2 - A pragmatic, multicentre, randomised controlled trial of negative pressure wound therapy for open surgical wounds.
