Profile

Biography

Fraser studied at Lancaster University and graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and Statistics. He continued his studies at Lancaster University, graduating with an MSc in Statistics and joined the York Trials Unit in November 2022. He provides statistical support for several trials in various fields of research, including mental health, dental, smoking cessation, and surgical trials.

Projects

  • CALM – An RCT of a guided self-help cognitive behavioural therapy to reduce dental anxiety in children attending primary dental care
  • ComBAT – An RCT of a community-based behavioural activation training for depression in adolescents
  • FLARE - A multi-centre, two-arm, non-inferiority, parallel group, randomised controlled trial with an internal pilot, economic evaluation and nested qualitative study, to assess whether the repair of the Flexor Digitorum Profundus (FDP) alone results in a as good as quality of life compared to repairing FDP and the Flexor Digitorum Superficialis (FDS).
  • MAPPS – A feasibility study of mouth care to prevent pneumonia in older people
  • PORTRAIT - an RCT investigating whether pain and quality of life are improved with post-operative radiotherapy compared to no radiotherapy and whether radiotherapy reduces the likelihood of further surgery in the future.
  • RAPSODI – An RCT assessing whether reverse total shoulder replacement is superior to an anatomical total shoulder replacement for the treatment of painful osteoarthritis of the shoulder joint in patients over 60 years old.
  • SCEPTRE – A feasibility study of promoting smoking cessation and preventing relapse to tobacco use following a smoke-free mental health inpatient stay
