Posted on 22 May 2024

Five members of staff from the Department have been nominated for awards in this year’s York Students’ Union (YUSU) Excellence Awards.

Dr Sue Faulds, Dr Catriona Jones, Dr Mike Parker, Laura Scott Weatherby and Jackie Skinner have all been nominated by students in this year’s awards.

The Excellence Awards give students the opportunity to show their appreciation to staff across the University, and thank them for their hard work. It is a student-led celebration and one which allows students to recognise those who have had a particularly positive impact on them over the past academic year, whether they are academic or non-academic staff members.

  • Dr Sue Faulds, Reader - nominated in the category of Supporting Student Voice Activities and Partnership.
  • Dr Catriona Jones, Lecturer in Midwifery - nominated in the category of Teacher of the Year.
  • Dr Mike Parker, Associate Professor - nominated in the category of Most Inspiring.
  • Laura Scott Weatherby, Lecturer in Mental Health - nominated in the category of Supervisor of the Year.
  • Jackie Skinner, Receptionist - nominated in the category of Unsung Hero.

Professor Kate Flemming, Head of Department, said: “I was thrilled to hear we have five members of the Department nominated for awards. These awards give students the opportunity to nominate staff members who have had a positive impact on them in the previous 12 months. I’m grateful to all our students who took the time to nominate staff -thank you.”

She added: “I would like to say sincere congratulations to all those nominated and wish you good luck at the event on 29th May.”
