Mike Parker, lecturer in adult nursing, recently completed his Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATNC) Instructor training at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
England is the only country in the world that permits nurses to undertake the training - in other countries, training can only be undertaken by physicians or surgeons. Mike said; "it was a great privilege and an honour to be selected as an instructor candidate."
The course started with a 90-minute written examination and Mike was thrilled to achieve 94%. He said; "I was really pleased with the result as preparation for the course had been very intense. I trained with some really inspirational candidates and was delighted to have the opportunity to meet and network with like-minded colleagues and promote the work of the Department and the University of York".
