Former nurses encouraged to return to workplace

Posted on 24 March 2015

Former nurses who have left the profession are being encouraged, as part of a national initiative, to return to the workplace to meet current workforce demands.

NHS organisations across Yorkshire and the Humber region are committed to supporting those who want to return to practice and the Department of Health Sciences ran a supporting event which was attended by 18 former nurses.

The event included a talk from Return to Practice course leader Clare Brooks about what the course involved and explained it provided returners with a flexible approach to fit in with family life and individual circumstances.

Students currently on the programme were on hand to provide help and guidance to those who attended.

Clare said: "It's great to see there are so many former nurses who now feel the time is right to return to the profession. I am pleased to say all students who are currently on the course have found employment when their studies are complete. I'm looking forward to reviewing the applications for the 2015/16 intake in September."
