Lecturer in mental health Jerome Wright introduced the event and welcomed all the speakers, including artist, psychotherapist and Honorary Professor at the University of Dundee, Professor Phil Barker. With over 40 years’ experience in the psychiatric field, and having published over 100 academic papers, 50 book chapters, and 20 books, his talk on care and caring was the perfect opening to the day.
The second lecture was delivered by Professor Anthony Redmond OBE, the founder of UK-Med which coordinates the provision of health care workers to international crises, most recently organising the NHS response to the ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone. He is also academic lead for global health education at Manchester Medical School.
The speakers were all warmly received, providing the perfect inspiration for the students in the build-up to their graduation later this year.
