The conference offers a valuable and stimulating day for those working in the delivery of diabetes care and is organised by a multi-disciplinary team of diabetes practitioners. The theme is “Diabetes: a coalition of care” and focuses on the partnership between the person with diabetes and diabetes teams, whether in primary or secondary care.
Speakers will include influential scientists, clinicians and leaders in the field. They will discuss the prevention of diabetes and how it can be related to practice, care of older people with diabetes and how new NICE guidance can be applied to everyday diabetes practice.
Workshops will focus on the care of people with diabetes and renal disease, people requiring insulin therapy, vulnerable people with diabetes such as the homeless, and those with severe mental health issues.
Anne Phillips, senior lecturer in diabetes care, said: “Once again the team has worked hard to provide an excellent opportunity for clinicians to update and refresh their knowledge as well as network with colleagues. At the end of the conference I hope they will consider new treatment approaches and feel revitalised and inspired to continue the excellent work they do in practice.”
“Diabetes: a coalition of care” takes place on Wednesday 25 November, 9am – 4.30pm at the Ebor Suite, York Racecourse. For more information visit www.york.ac.uk/healthsciences/news-and-events/events/2015/diabetes-conf2015/.
