Profile

Biography

Tom joined YTU as a Trial Support Officer in April 2021 and has worked within Department of Health Sciences since 2015 as a Project Support Officer Epidemiology & Cancer Statistics Group (ECSG). Tom completed a Masters in Public Health within the department in 2020 and holds an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science from Keele University. Prior to joining the University of York Tom worked in various administrative roles for Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. Tom Currently works on a combination of health and education trials: VenUS 6 & Maths Champions II.

Projects

  • HAMLET - A multicentre, two-arm, non-blinded, pragmatic, parallel group, randomised controlled superiority trial assessing the clinical and cost effectiveness of Through Knee Amputation (TKA) compared to Above Knee Amputation (AKA) in patients requiring major lower limb amputations (MMLA), but who are unsuitable for a Below Knee Amputation (BKA).
  • Maths Champions II - Independent evaluation of Maths Champions in nursery settings to develop children's early numeracy
  • VenUS 6 - A randomised controlled trial of compression therapies for the treatment of venous leg ulcers
