Biography

Stuart joined the Department in 2014. He previously worked as a numerical modeller and statistician at the Centre for Healthcare Modelling and Informatics, University of Portsmouth. Before that he completed a PhD in modelling x-ray interactions in the analysis of sediment cores at the University of Southampton and a degree in Physics at the University of Warwick.

Research

Overview

Stuart’s research interests include analysis of demand and provision of services for children with life-limiting illness, particularly paediatric palliative care services. From his previous employment, he also has an interest in clinical outcomes modelling using routinely collected clinical data.

Stuart is able to supervise quantitative Masters projects with a broad focus on long term conditions in children and young people or on in-hospital safety. Specific areas of interest include life limiting conditions and early warning scores in hospitals. Favoured approaches for Masters projects are secondary analyses of healthcare datasets or cohort studies, including regression analyses.
