Rachel qualified as a mental health nurse from Teesside University in 1998. She worked in adult mental health services for three years in an extended day service and community mental health team in Stockton and Hartlepool. Rachel has also been employed as a mental health nurse in a secondary school, supporting children and young people. This role fostered her interest in child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS).
Rachel worked in Redcar and Cleveland child and adolescent mental health team where she spent most of her clinical career. Her roles have included CAMHS training co-ordinator and practice placement facilitator. Rachel worked as a Senior Nurse: Practice Placement Facilitator ensuring quality in practice education for a large Foundation Trust.
Rachel recently completed an MSc in Transformational Leadership in Healthcare at Teesside University. Her dissertation explored the views and experience of nursing mentors when supporting an underachieving or failing student nurse.
