Molly was appointed to the University of York in November 2022 as a Clinical Teaching Fellow for Mental Health Nursing, a partnership role that promotes links between the University of York and Tees, Esk, and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust.
The role of Clinical Teaching Fellow in Mental Health nursing seeks to not only support students in both clinical and academic environments, but also strengthen the partnership between the Trust and the University. In addition to this, the role will support student experience and positively contribute to the future professional workforce.
Molly will spend a proportion of her time at the University within module delivery. Her time within practice will focus on skills sessions and bitesize teaching sessions. This will be adaptable based on areas identified by key stakeholders.
Molly qualified at the University of York in 2019 with a Masters in Nursing. After qualification Molly worked in an adult inpatient unit in York as newly qualified staff nurse. As the pandemic developed the roles and procedures became very different, including a move to a new hospital site. Since August 2021, Molly worked as a Clinical Lead for inpatient services until leaving the post in November, where she had been taking on more operational and managerial responsibilities while supporting the clinical team.
Following appointment to her current post, Molly has forged links with key stakeholders to further develop good communication and between university and clinical settings to improve the student nurse experience and what is offered by the role.
She has also begun to engage in a research project within the department, which is in the early stages of participant recruitment.
