Biography
Linda qualified as a registered adult nurse in Leeds and specialised in respiratory medicine as a ward sister. Later in her role as clinical services manager and then matron she managed acute medicine, sexual health and respiratory medicine within the Acute Hospital Trust, Leeds. During this time Linda worked in partnership to establish the Chlamydia service and city wide chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) service. Following on from this Linda worked as a senior manager within the independent sector commissioning new services including extra care housing and care provision across the North of England for people living with dementia. Linda is a qualified teacher and has worked within education since 2007. Linda has also continued to work part-time as a clinical nurse on a surgical ward in a private sector hospital since 2007. Linda is interested in dementia care, respiratory care, sexual health and access to education.

Research
Overview
Linda’s research interests are in the field of Bourdieu’s Cultural and Social Capital and how this impacts upon Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) and working-class students' access to Further and Higher Education.
Projects
- As part of her Masters degree studies, Linda is currently undertaking “a narrative study of the factors affecting Minority Ethnic boys' uptake of Health and Social Care courses within Further Education”
