Biography
Lesley joined YTU in January 2022 from the University of Edinburgh where she was a Research Fellow/Trial Manager with the Usher Institute. Lesley has worked in both NHS and University settings and has more than 20 years’ practical experience in the design, management and delivery of health services research involving a range of patient groups. From 2011 to 2021 Lesley’s work focussed on taking forward a portfolio of projects relating to smoking cessation. Lesley has particular expertise in clinical trial and project management and has an MSc in Clinical Trials from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

- BART II - An RCT to evaluate the effectiveness of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for individuals who meet the criteria for being at risk of developing bipolar disorder.
- EXTEND – RCT of EXTENDed antibiotics to improve outcomes in patients with complicated intra-abdominal infection
- IBPI - An RCT evaluating the clinical and cost effectiveness of an online integrated bipolar parenting intervention to improve child emotional and behavioural problems.
- OPAL2 – A multi-centre RCT comparing the OPAL occupational support programme with usual care on the time to return-to-work in patients undergoing elective hip or knee replacement surgery.
- SCEPTRE: A feasibility RCT of the SCEPTRE intervention to support smoking cessation and prevent relapse to tobacco use following a smoke free mental health inpatient stay
