Profile

Biography

Jodie’s clinical background is as a specialist nurse and independent prescriber in Sexual Health and  Contraception. She then became a Specialist Nurse in Medicines Management.

Jodie is Deputy Lead for our Independent and Supplementary Prescribing programme. She teaches pharmacology and medicines safety across a number of other programmes including BSc Nursing, the Nurse Associate apprenticeship and MSc Nursing.

Jodie has an interest in genomics and is currently studying for a PhD in Genomics in Nurse Education.

Jodie has also completed a module in pharmacology with Harvard Medical School and is a Fellow of the HEA.

Teaching

Undergraduate

Jodie teaches pharmacology on the MSc Nursing programme.

On our Bsc Nursing Programme, Jodie is a Stage One seminar lead in the Biological and Pharmacological Aspects of Health and Wellbeing module. She also teaches pharmacology and medicines safety.

Jodie is module lead for Medicines Optimisation on the Nurse Associate apprenticeship programme.

Jodie also teaches evidence based practice on the NA programme.

Postgraduate

Jodie teaches pharmacology on the Independent and Supplementary prescribing programme. She also contributes to the ACP programme.

  • Jodie was a panel member at the 2024 Wellcome Connecting Science workshop for educators: How to Teach Genomics, hosted at the Wellcome genome campus in Hinxton.
  • Jodie has written a module on the safe use of opioid medications for the SCRIPT national e-learning programme. SCRIPT is designed to encourage safe and effective prescribing and medicines management. It is developed by the University of Birmingham and OCB Media Ltd, and commissioned by Health Education England.
