Jessica’s PhD in ‘Popular Music and Politics’ focused on listening and prefigurative politics. Following this study Jessica developed her career as a support worker in drug and alcohol services, where she trained in and delivered a range of psychosocial interventions. Subsequently she was able to use these experiences as an adviser on the National Gambling Helpline, before joining a programme to address the lack of available gambling interventions across criminal justice settings.
Currently, Jessica works on a project for the Forensic Mental Health research theme titled Addressing Mental Health in Custody a Brief Learning Environment (AMICABLE). The overall aim of AMICABLE is to develop and test a peer-led intervention to support mental health and well-being in prison.
Jessica’s research interests include factors that influence the effectiveness of peer interventions in prison, and topics related to gambling policy development.
