Biography

Grace’s career in healthcare started in 2015, one of her proudest moments is enduring the uncertainty of practising as an Aspirant Nurse during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic. Grace’s clinical background is in acute medicine and emergency nursing locally at York Hospital.

Grace stepped into higher education with a dual role: Clinical Teaching Fellow - acting as a conduit between the University of York and York & Scarborough NHSFT. The role involved working with key stakeholders to ensure students were prepared for and supported with learning opportunities in practice and mentoring newly qualified nurses.

Grace then became a full-time Lecturer in Nursing at the University of Hull. She taught on modules about professional practice and clinical skills, whilst also assuming the role of an academic link lecturer and admissions tutor.

Grace’s role at the University of York involves teaching on the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship (RNDA) programme and simulation.

Overview

Grace’s research interests involve simulation in nurse education, reducing imposter syndrome in early career nurses, enhancing the nursing profession’s awareness of neurodivergence, and the use of the CLiP supervision model in clinical placements.
