David qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1994 and worked in coronary care and cardiology. He worked for 19 years at the University of Hull, undertaking a variety of teaching, scholarship and leadership roles. In 2022, David moved to the University of York as Professor of Teaching and Learning (Health Professional Education) and Deputy Head of Department.
David's PhD explored the use of teleconsultation (remote, video-enabled communication) by nurses. He has a continued interest in the use of technology in healthcare practice and education. He also has a broader interest in the development of evidence-based healthcare education that enhances the student experience.
David can supervise PhD students in all aspects of nursing practice. He is particularly interested in PhD projects focused on the education of nurses and other healthcare practitioners.
