Profile

Biography

Jun Li is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Ecotoxicology working with Prof. Mark Hodson and Prof. Colin Brown on the ‘Worming our way into understanding Ecologically-Relevant Exposure in Soils (WormERES)’ project, funded by Syngenta. The WormERES project is primarily to contribute the exposure elements into the building of an Earthworm Population Model, which will provide a cost-effective alternative to doing multiple earthworm field studies for regulatory risk assessment of pesticides.

Before the WormERES project, Jun Li had worked on the European iPiE project on the intelligent assessment of pharmaceuticals in the environment with Prof. Alistair Boxall at the University of York (2016-2020). In this project, he has investigated the sorption behaviour of a wide range of pharmaceuticals in soil and sediment systems and developed a series of models for estimating pharmaceutical sorption. This work is highly invaluable for industry applicants, researchers and risk assessors involved in environmental risk assessment and prioritization efforts for pharmaceuticals and for regulators to support environmental decision making.
