Jenny is a PhD researcher in the Department of Environment and Geography. Her research focuses on creating numerical models of tsunamis and storm surges travelling through mangrove forests. The aim is to determine the extent to which mangrove trees reduce the impact of these waves, and to parameterise the process. This will bring a greater understanding to the factors which impact the level of protection provided, and allow an optimum forest layout to be designed.
Prior to starting her PhD, Jenny completed an Integrated Masters in Physics at the University of St Andrews. Her Masters research involved creating numerical models of light transport through coral and coralline algae.
