Biography
I am a research technician in Alistair Boxall's group in the Department of Environment and Geography at the University of York. My work involves the development and application of a range of LC-MS(MS) and GC-MS methods to measure a range of target compounds in river water samples. These compounds range from pet medicines, pesticides and human pharmaceuticals to industrial emissions, transport emissions and UV blockers.
I have an MChem in Chemistry, Resources and the Environment from the University of York and have a PhD in Chemistry that I completed under Lucy Carpenter and Marvin Shaw at the Wolfson Atmospheric Chemistry Laboratories, also at York. My PhD research was focused on the use of chemical ionisation mass spectrometry (SIFT-MS and PTR-ToF-MS) to measure atmospheric emission from the ocean surface, largely focussing on the emission of methyl iodide and oxygenated volatile organic carbons (OVOCs).
