English and Related Literature MA Scholarships
We are pleased to be able to offer ten scholarships to the value of £1,000 each.
This funding competition is open to MA applicants who are eligible for Home fees, who have applied for one of the following English and Related Literature MA programmes. Applications for 2025/26 entry are now open.
Open to UK (home) students only.
In order to be eligible you must also have an offer for a place on one of the following courses:
- MA English Literary Studies
- MA Film and Literature
- MA Global Literature and Culture
- MA Literature in the Creative and Cultural Industries
- MA Literature of the Romantic Period, 1775-1832
- MA Medieval Literatures and Languages
- MA Modern and Contemporary Literature and Culture
- MA Renaissance Literature, 1500-1700
- MA Victorian Literature and Culture
- MA Queer Studies
To be eligible, you must:
- hold an offer to study one of our English MA degrees, starting your course in September 2025
- be eligible for Home fees
- have made York your Firm choice by 6 May 2025
- submit the MA scholarship application form before 5pm on 6 May 2025
Award of a scholarship will be dependent on you having been accepted for a qualifying MA (see above) and having met any conditions set by the University of York.
If you gain both full MA funding from outside the department and the internal scholarship, you'll be expected to take up the external funding and relinquish the internal scholarship so it can be reallocated to another student by the department.

Scholarships will be awarded based on a review of both your scholarship application form and your full MA application.
We will only consider candidates who have submitted both an MA application and the scholarship application form, and made York their Firm choice by the deadline.
Scholarship payments are made towards the second half of Semester 1, around November/December.
