In my thesis, I explore the problematics of Anglican theology in the poetry of Geoffrey Hill. By looking at particular artistic and religious forms, such as architecture, hymns, and sermons, I investigate how he frames questions pertaining to theology and how his vision of such problems emerges from in his verse.  By sketching out my analysis in terms of close readings and deriving theology from Hill’s intimate poetic grappling with these forms, I aim to provide, through my thesis, a comprehensive view of the theology underlying Hill’s verse, without divorcing such principles from the poetry itself.
