Description
My doctoral thesis, funded by SSHRC and the University of York, is a critical edition of the Middle English versions of De remediis contra temptaciones, a fourteenth-century treatise of spiritual instruction. De remediis circulated widely in late medieval England and survives in four distinct vernacular translations. My thesis edits these, along with the Latin source text, for the first time, with an analysis of their background, textual relationships, and transmission in manuscripts and early printed books. My general interests include medieval literature, particularly late medieval devotional writing, nineteenth-century literature, and bibliography.
