Roundtable: Working with Authors

Join us for a lively and diverse roundtable discussion on the challenges and thrills of working with contemporary authors. Our panel will share their experiences of working with a range of authors on a wide variety of different projects, from translation to public engagement.  We will give practical tips on how to integrate interviews into your research, collaborate on editorial projects, navigate publishers and publications, and manage relationships. Speakers will each give a 10-minute informal talk followed by an open discussion and a Q&A session.

  • Dr James Williams on editing poet and librettist Alice Goodman, History is Our Mother 
  • Dr Lola Boorman on interviewing short story writer Lydia Davis
  • Dr Bryan Radley on interviewing authors in public 
  • Dr Nicoletta Asciuto on translating Natalia Ginzburg and Katja Perat
  • Professor John Bowen on working with David Edgar on A Christmas Carol for the RSC
