York alumnus wins prestigious essay prize

Congratulations to Dr Antony Huen who is the runner-up for the inaugural Women Poetry Prize.
The Prize is awarded by the journal Women: A Cultural Review to a critical essay engaging with the poetry of women of colour. The judges praised Antony's essay on the work of Grace Nichols and Pascale Petit for 'its unique and refreshing... analysis of these poets' work that focuses on ekphrasis and compares the two in terms of practice and ethics.'

With a PhD from the Department of English and Related Literature at York, Antony is an academic based in Hong Kong. He is published in PN Review, Poetry Wales, and World Literature Today, among other places. He was the winner of the inaugural Wasafiri Essay Prize.
