The Department of English and Related Literature at York this week confirmed its place among the world's most highly regarded departments for English Language and Literature. The department is ranked 27th in the world, and 7th among UK universities in the QS rankings. Head of Department David Attwell comments, 'It's indeed wonderful to see the distinguished teaching and research in English at York being acknowledged in the world rankings. This is a superb tribute to the creativity and dedication of all our colleagues.'
Published annually since 2011, the QS World University rankings by subject highlight the world’s top universities in a range of popular subject areas, covering 42 subjects in 2016. Universities are scored according to academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact (number of citations per paper).
