Writing Now Reading Group

Wednesday 29 November 2017, 3.00PM to 4.00pm

This is the first meeting of the Writing Now Reading Group as part of the CModS Creative Dissonance Research strand.

In the first meeting of this reading group, we'll start off with debates on the periodisation of contemporary literature. What is contemporary literature? What makes literature contemporary? When did we move beyond postmodernism; have we moved beyond postmodernism? Starting with Giorgio Agamben’s seminal piece, “What is the Contemporary?”, we'll go on to move through Theodore Martin’s “The Currency of the Contemporary” which assesses some of the recent work in this field.
