Anthony Powell: Shakespeare, and other Literary Influences

An international conference dedicated to the work, life and times of Anthony Dymoke Powell. 

The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for the discussion of Powell, his life, his works, and especially his literary interests, influences, and associations - from Shakespeare, Robert Burton, and John Aubrey to Proust and Evelyn Waugh. 

Keynote and plenary speakers are:

  • John Bowen (York)
  • Kate Bennett (Oxford)
  • Nick Birns (New York)
  • Didier Girard (Tours) 

A limited number of places are still available at a reduced registration fee of £50 for York University Faculty and students.  Full registration details and programme can be found on the Anthony Powell Society Conference 2016 website.  

The conference is organised by the Modern School of the Department of English and Related Literature, University of York, and the Anthony Powell Society.
