Graduate Student Conference 2015

This annual event provides an opportunity for postgraduates across the department to gain experience in presenting and communicating their interests or research, and to learn about the work of their peers in a friendly and informal setting.
Keynote: Professor Cathy Shrank (Sheffield)
Proposals for papers on any topic related to the remit of the English Department are welcomed, and we encourage submissions from MA and
PhD students from all years and centres. Speakers will be asked to present for around 15-20 minutes (which equates to around 3,000 words) and are welcome to use adapted assignments or other existing material. We invite applicants to submit an abstract of 250-300 words outlining the main concept behind the essay.
The conference does not have an overall theme and aims to show off the diversity of work being undertaken in the Department, but this year
we particularly welcome papers that interact with the following loose themes and ideas:
Approaches to English as an interdisciplinary subject
- Reinventions, repercussions, revisitation
- Scandal, secrets, subversion
- Enchantment
