This term's John Tilney Writer in Residence is the Department of English is the acclaimed Pakistani novelist Kamila Shamsie. She is the author of five novels and has been hailed by Salman Rushdie as 'a writer of immense ambition and strength'. Her fifth novel,
Burnt Shadows (2009) was shortlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction and described by Anita Desai as 'audacious in its ambition, epic in its scope'.
