"Being a student from India, the most rewarding aspect of my MA in Romantic and Sentimental Literature was studying British representations of 'the East' from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. When I enrolled for my masters, I hadn't previously studied any literature on British India. Hence, the modules British Orientalisms 1750-1850, and a History of Art module Art and Imperialism in India 1750-1920 appealed to me greatly as a way to expand my knowledge of the period's literature, whilst learning more about the history of my own country. Furthermore, the Core module for my course encapsulated a varied range of writers and works; some I had read before and many I hadn't, but it was all equally thrilling to study. This is my fourth year of study at the University of York; the campus is beautiful and the staff is extremely welcoming and approachable. I am hoping to pursue a PhD in York after the completion of my masters."
