MA Alumni...Hannah Lyons

“I completed my MA in Eighteenth Century Studies: Representations and Contexts in 2012 and I was fortunate enough to progress into a role at Tate Britain, where I am currently working as part of the Curatorial team, focusing particularly on nineteenth century British art. My two years as part of CECS were instrumental in helping me move into this position; aside from providing me with a solid academic background - CECS is a world class scholarly environment - I was also able to study for my MA part time, and thus use this time to take advantage of York's numerous museums and galleries in my search for internships and work experience. I found the whole CECS community to be extremely be friendly, welcoming and inspiring. Since graduating from CECS I have continued to receive their support and encouragement in further projects, such as organising conferences and co-editing a related publication. I really enjoyed my time and York and wholeheartedly recommend the Centre.”

Hannah took her MA part time over two years, which enabled her to take on internships as well as co-organise a highly successful postgraduate CECS conference, Placing Faces: The Portrait and the Country House in the Long Eighteenth Century.
