Exploring Constellations

Friday 4 December 2020, 3.00PM

Do you like poetry? Do you like art?

Have you ever wanted to dip into the world of William Blake, but found him too frustratingly intimidating, difficult, or plain strange?

Join our easy-going, no commitment, virtual postgraduate reading group, Exploring Constellations! Run by PhD students at CECS who work on both Blake's art and poetry, we invite all postgraduates interested in learning more about the poet-artist and his wonderfully mad world.

We have two groups that run on alternate weeks:

1. An Introduction to William Blake: For those who would like to learn more about Blake. Dip your toes into some of his better known works such as The Songs of Innocence and Experience (1789, 1794)!
Suitable for anyone with any level of interest.

2. Embracing the Urizenic Void: This reading group takes a handful of plates from the more challenging poems. Dissect the poetry and art on a greater level, and crowdsource/share your readings!
Suitable for those with a more advanced understanding of Blake's work and the 18C.

If you would like to join us, we meet on Zoom, Fridays at 3-4pm (UK Time).

The first meeting for 'An Introduction' will be on the 25th September, and for 'Embracing the Void' it will be 2nd October. Please find more information on the Exploring Constellations Autumn 2020 programme (PDF , 730kb).
