We intend to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Wollstonecraft's birth, on 27 April 1759. We have called the event 'A Conversation' because we imagine it as a relatively informal occasion for the exchange and development of ideas. We will encourage all participants to contribute to discussion, which will be introduced and led by a panel of internationally acclaimed feminist scholars and historians. There will be no formal programme, but discussion will be initiated on topics that will address (for example) the historical importance of Wollstonecraft's work, her later reputation, and the legacies, both direct and indirect, of her life and work in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
