Accessing and experiencing Higher Education: Adjustment sponsorship and other questions in the sociology of higher education

Dr. Mountford-Zimdars is lecturer in higher education at King's College London's King's Learning Institute. Her research focuses on access to higher education and the professions.
The seminar will introduce empirical findings regarding differentials in access to higher education, differentials in progression within higher education and differentials in access to an elite profession (the legal Bar). The presentation will then discuss theoretical explanations for patterns of differences as well as some potential practical implications and initiatives designed to enhance more equal access and progression within higher education.
