MA Student Receives Commendation from the British Council for her Dissertation on Cultural Representation in ELT Textbooks

Tuong Ho receives commendation from British Council

Many congratulations to Tuong Thanh Ho on receiving a commendation from the British Council for the dissertation she completed as part of her MA in Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching in 2021-22. 

The dissertation supervised by Prof Danijela Trenkic, Programme Leader MA Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching, explored cultural representations in Vietnamese English Language Teaching (ELT) textbooks and highlighted the importance of locally adapted teaching materials.

Feedback from the British Council’s ELT Masters Dissertation Award Panel commended the mixed methods approach and the dissertation’s potential for impact at a policy level.
