I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate with the Hungry Mind Lab at the Department of Education at the University of York.
I recently completed my PhD in Linguistics (2023), for which I was awarded an ESRC +3 Studentship and an HRC Doctoral Fellowship. My doctoral research investigated cerebral specialisation for vocalisation and facial expression of emotion in pre-linguistic infants. I worked as a Research Assistant at the School of Education at the University of Leeds alongside my PhD (2019-2022), and held other research posts on projects concerning phonological, linguistic, and psychological development at the University of York and Leeds Beckett University prior to this.
My research interests centre around how experience interacts with biology during the early years, resulting in individual differences in socio-emotional, cognitive and motor development. In my current role, I am working on a project examining the use of DNA to predict individual differences in intelligence.
I am committed to working to improve developmental outcomes and am keen to foster interdisciplinary collaborations with colleagues with similar research interests and aims.
