I am a research associate for the Hungry Mind Lab in the Department of Education at the University of York. I am currently working on a project funded by the Nuffield Foundation and led by Professor Sophie Von Stumm. The project aims to investigate early life language experiences and its relationship with family background inequality and various outcomes in the lives of children.
I have a keen interest in children’s language development, especially how a child's language proficiency links to future outcomes. I believe that conducting research at the intersection of different psychological domains expands the picture of children’s language development and develops findings that can be translated into practice.
Before joining the Hungry Mind Lab, I was a member of the Liverpool Language Lab at the University of Liverpool, where I completed my PhD in Psychology. My PhD studied the link between language development and object cognition, specifically how linguistic labelling affects the encoding of objects. Alongside my PhD work, I have worked as a research assistant on various projects including the LuCiD Language 0-5 Project and being a part of the global Many Babies Consortium.
