The book is published by Bloomsbury and edited by four of the UK’s foremost experts on poetry in education: Dr Sue Dymoke, Prof Myra Barrs, Prof Andrew Lambirth and Dr Anthony Wilson.
Daniel’s chapter illustrates how students’ engagement with poetry can be facilitated by providing them with the opportunity of selecting the poems they would like to critically read in class and encouraging them to lead the lessons in which these texts are discussed.
Daniel’s doctoral research focuses on the interplay between teachers’ and students’ beliefs about poetry and their classroom practices. Dr Nicholas McGuinn and Dr Sarah Olive are supervising his research.
Throughout his doctoral studies, Daniel has published a string of papers in peer-reviewed journals and has been awarded a number of prizes, including the Terry Furlong Prize for Research, a World Universities Network Research Mobility Prize, and a Santander International Connections Award.
He teaches English at the University of Malta Junior College.
