Alom travels from the Royal Institution in Canada to University of York to the San Francisco Exploratorium, meeting educationalists, science communicators and magicians along the way. The film aims not only to reveal the similarity between magicians’ tricks and science demonstrations, but also how to explore students’ knowledge and test their thinking.
A free twilight premiere of the movie took place on Monday 10 March at the National STEM Centre, followed by a Q&A with Professor Robin Millar, Mary Whitehouse and Elin Roberts, Centre for Life, Newcastle.
DEMO: THE MOVIE will be made freely available online at www.getsetdemo.com along with other resources to support science teachers making a pledge to participate in National Demo Day on the 20 March 2014.
