Education Honorary Visiting Fellow Dr Nicholas McGuinn has been named as one of 50 people who have enhanced York's global reputation, alongside Professor David Waddington.
A call for nominations as part of the University's 50th year celebrations saw Dr McGuinn named for 'his enthusiasm and passion for his subject and students'.
Professor Waddington was selected for being 'instrumental in bringing industry, science and science education together. This led to the formation of University of York Science Education Group, which has placed the University as a world leader in context-based science education in schools.'
Dr McGuinn has recently had a book 'The English Teacher's Drama Handbook: from theory to practice' published. The book offers new ways of looking at drama and English, including exploring ideological influences that have shaped drama's relationship with English. It also looks at schemes of work to inspire and support teachers and their students.
