The successful applicant will be required to do some teaching in the Department; this will involve about 100 hours of teaching and 100 hours of preparation and marking each year. This equates to around 6 or 7 hours per week, or about one day a week, during term time. There will also be opportunities to become involved in staff-led research projects, depending on the interests of the successful applicant.
To be eligible for this studentship you must be a home/EU student and have applied and been offered a place on our three-year full-time PhD programme starting October 2013 before this deadline. The recipient of the offer of the studentship will be informed of this by 31 July 2013.
The Department has particular research strengths in four areas: research on education and social justice, research on language learning, research on psychology in education, and research on science education. A full list of members of staff and the research topics where they would welcome PhD applications can be found on the department website. There is no restriction on the research topic which is eligible for the studentship.
