A world-renowned applied linguist has joined the Department of Education as Visiting Professor
Professor Vivian Cook joined the department on 1st October 2012 as Honorary Visiting Professor. Professor Cook is a world-renowned applied linguist. An active researcher and theoriser and a popular writer, he is currently chiefly noted for his work on second language acquisition. He is a prolific author, who has published more than twenty books and a hundred journal articles and book chapters, as well as various textbooks -- on second language acquisition, language teaching, English as a Foreign Language and the English writing system -- and popular books.
