Departmental MOOC presented to the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology

On 8 November 2023, Andy Cirocki attended a Teacher’s Day event, organised by the British Council Indonesia in Jakarta.

During the event, Andy, Professor Bimali Indrarathne (General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Sri Lanka) and Professor Pratiwi Retnaningdyah (Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Indonesia) presented a MOOC to the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.

They developed the MOOC in two languages (Bahasa Indonesia and English) as part of the British Council funded project (UK-Indonesia Going Global Partnerships Grant 2022).

The course focuses on literacy development, identifying learning difficulties, and dealing with dyslexia at pre-school and primary school levels. The MOOC will soon be available on the Indonesian government website and shared with teachers across the country.

It is hoped that the course will contribute to raising teachers’ awareness of inclusive literacy development and improving classroom practices and learning experiences in Indonesian schools.
